This comprehensive seminar will offer a technical level explanation of how various types of solar heating systems operate, their advantages and disadvantages, and issues regarding deployment in northern climates. Solar domestic hot water systems will be discussed, as well as radiant floor heating systems, space heating with solar heated air panels, and dual mode air systems. Solar pool heating systems will be covered briefly. This seminar will elaborate on the material covered in GLREA’s Introductory Renewable Energy Seminar on solar water and space heating systems.
The seminar will be taught by Bruce Lowstuter, P.E., of Clean Energy Systems. Bruce is a licensed Professional Engineer and a GLREA certified Systems Integrator. He has 30 years experience in design and management of engineering projects.
The class will break for lunch for approximately one hour. Students are responsible for their own lunches.
Prerequisites
- Basic technical understanding of solar heating, OR
- Ability to understand technically oriented information, OR
- Attendance at one of GLREA’s Introductory Renewable Energy Seminars on solar water and space heating.
